William McDowell, Sr. was born on May 27, 1969 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late James and Margaret McDowell. He accepted his call to preach God's Holy Word in 1995. He is now the honorable pastor of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church (Tuscaloosa, Alabama) where he has faithfully served since 2005. He is married to Tamia McDowell, and they have four children. He graduated from Central High School (Tuscaloosa, Alabama) in 1987 and went on to Shelton State Community College to receive his Associate Degree in General Studies. At Selma University, he received a Bachelor in Bible and Pastoral Counseling. William is currently enrolled at Birmingham Theological Seminary pursuing a Master Degree in Bible and Pastoral Counseling.
Rev. McDowell served as President of the Tuscaloosa Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance Tuscaloosa, AL 2010-2012. During 2010-2018, he served on the finance committee for the Alabama State Missionary Baptist Convention. He was also on the finance committee for the Northwest District State Convention 2018-2022. Currently, he is serving on the following roles for the New Antioch Bethlehem District Association (N.A.B.D): Chairman of the Trustee Board, Statistician Foreign Mission Coordinator and Vice-Chairman of Registration and Finance. Rev. McDowell also serves as chairman of Registration and Finance, Vice Chairman of Annuity Board and an Executive Board Member for Alabama State Missionary Baptist Convention, Inc. He is also the Assistant Director of the Westside Action Community Counsel for the youth summer jobs program. He is chairman of the media ministry for the Pastors Reaching Out in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Under the leadership of Pastor McDowell, Liberty Missionary Baptist Church has been an active member of the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc since 2005. Rev. McDowell is an anointed pastor, preacher and teacher of the word of God. He is committed to building the kingdom of God by winning souls for Christ.
